Immunizations and Wellness Exams

An early exam with a veterinarian is essential to ensuring your puppy or kitten gets the right start, and to help uncover any congenital or developmental problems. We recommend the first veterinary visit around 6-8 weeks of age. At that time, we will discuss a vaccination and parasite prevention schedule for your pet. Typically, we recommend a veterinary visit every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. If your pet will not be a breeding animal, we will recommend a time for spaying or neutering based on your pets breed and size.

We recommend annual wellness exams throughout your pets life. Dogs and cats age much more quickly than humans, thus an annual exam is essential to closely monitoring your pets health. Oftentimes, medical problems can be treated more effectively if caught early in the disease process. Our Wellness visits are designed specifically for your pet and include a comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite screening, a vaccination program, heartworm and other  parasite prevention, and bloodwork as needed.

senior exams

Our older companions need a little more attention and care, thus these exams are targeted to locate any conditions that arise due to advanced age. Depending on your pets health we may recommend that physical exams occur more frequently than the typical annual exam. In addition, we recommend annual bloodwork and urinalysis for senior pets, as it can help to uncover medical conditions that may not be readily apparent on a physical exam.
